What happens to your data

Your files

With the tools here today — the Publisher file reader, the photo compressor and the image upscaler — they never leave your device. When you choose a file, it is read by code that is part of the page and running on your own computer or phone. It is not uploaded, not queued, not copied, and not deleted afterwards — because it was never anywhere to delete it from.

This is not a promise about what we do with your files. It is a statement that we never have them. There is no upload folder on our side, no storage bucket, and no database of documents.

How to check, rather than believe

You do not have to take our word for it, and you should not have to:

1. Open the tool you want to use and let the page finish loading.
2. Turn your internet off — flight mode on a phone, or unplug the cable.
3. Now open your file.

It still works. A site that was uploading your file could not do that.

What we do collect

Two things, and neither of them is about your documents.

Ordinary server records

Like every web server, ours records which pages were requested, when, from roughly where, and with which browser. That is how we know whether anybody is finding the site at all. It contains no file names and no file contents, because those never reach the server.

Visitor counting

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits — how many people arrived, which page they landed on, roughly which country they were in. It sets a cookie on your device to avoid counting you twice, and it is the only cookie this site sets of its own accord.

It also counts what the tools did. For the .pub reader: that a file was opened, how many pages it had, that a PDF or a picture was saved, that it was shared, or that a file could not be opened and which of four reasons applied. That is how we learn whether the tool is any use. It never sends the file's name, its text, or anything read out of it: it has no way of knowing what you opened, because the file never reaches a server for anything to know about.

The photo tool counts the same kind of thing, in five events and nothing more:

• cmp_files — photos were added: how many, and roughly how large on average, as one of five bands (under 100 KB, up to 1 MB, up to 5 MB, up to 20 MB, larger);
• cmp_preset — an official form’s sizes were chosen: the country and which form and upload (for example “IN” and “in-ibps-photo”);
• cmp_done — a run finished: whether the photos fitted, came as close as possible, or could not be used, and how many of each;
• cmp_download — a result was downloaded, one photo or a ZIP;
• cmp_fix — one of the fix buttons was pressed (fewer pixels, save as JPEG, or keep the closest file).

None of them carries a photo’s name, its exact size, its pixels, its camera data or anything else read from it.

The photo upscaler downloads its AI model from this site the first time you use it — the model, not your photo, travels — and counts five events:

• ups_file — a photo was chosen, and roughly how many pixels it has, as one of four bands (under 0.25, up to 1, up to 4, over 4 megapixels);
• ups_done — a run ended: done, done without AI, too large, stopped or failed; what was asked for (improve, 2×, 4×, 4K, 2K, logo or a print size); and whether the graphics card or the processor did the work;
• ups_download — a result was downloaded: what was asked for, JPEG or PNG, and whether it was the AI version or the one without AI;
• ups_share — the Send button was used: sent, cancelled or failed;
• ups_copy — the Copy button was used: copied or failed.

None of them carries the photo’s name, its size, its pixels or anything read from it, and Send hands the photo to the app you choose on your own device; it does not pass through this site.

A browser extension that blocks trackers will block all of this, and nothing on the site stops working if you do.

Advertising

There is no advertising on this site at the moment, so no advertising network places code or cookies here. If that changes, this section will name the network and say what it does before the first advert appears.

We do not sell anything, we have no mailing list, there is no account to create, and nothing you type into a tool is transmitted anywhere.

Who runs this

One person. The site is not a company, and has no staff. If something here is wrong or you want something removed, there is an address on the about page.

If a tool ever works differently

The tools that exist now will not change: they are built so that sending your file anywhere would take deliberate new work. If a future tool genuinely needs a server, its own page will say so before you choose a file, and this page will say what it sends and why before that tool goes live. Nothing will quietly become an upload.
